Students protesting against recruitment exam irregularities in Jharkhand have accused the Ranchi district administration of deliberately withholding the health details of Devendra Nath Mahto, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 12 days over the issue.
Mr. Mahto, the leader of the Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha (JLKM), is undergoing treatment at the Sadar Hospital in Ranchi after his health deteriorated following his participation in a march by agitating students to the Jharkhand Assembly. He had written to the Ranchi civil surgeon on Wednesday night, seeking permission to return to the protest site at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium.
The protesting students have expressed concerns over the administration’s decision to keep Mr. Mahto’s health details under wraps.
