President Donald Trump is set to deliver a eulogy for Lindsey Graham at the late senator’s funeral inside Washington National Cathedral, where numerous U.S. officials and foreign dignitaries have gathered. Trump, who said this morning that Graham had ‘never seen a war he didn’t like,’ will be one of three people to speak. The others will be Fox News host Sean Hannity and Emillie Boggs Roberts, Graham’s niece.
Among those inside the cathedral are Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, former Vice President Mike Pence and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Earlier in the day, Graham’s remains were taken to the U.S. Capitol for a private ceremony. There, Vice President JD Vance remembered the South Carolina Republican for his humor and his ability to look past disagreements.
Graham, who died unexpectedly this month of an aortic rupture at age 71, served for more than two decades in the Senate. He was a foreign policy hawk, frequently advocating for greater U.S. interventionism overseas, and a close ally of President Trump. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he met with Lindsey Graham’s family ahead of the late senator’s funeral, writing on X that he joined Graham’s family and friends in Washington to honor his memory.
A stream of current and former officials, media figures and foreign dignitaries have arrived at Washington National Cathedral ahead of Lindsey Graham’s funeral, set to begin at 2 p.m. Among those in attendance are former Vice President Mike Pence and former Attorney General Bill Barr, both of whom served in President Trump’s first administration. Trump turned highly critical of both men after they upheld the results of the 2020 election.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was seen inside the cathedral speaking with other guests. Zelenskyy met with Trump and offered ‘condolences on the passing of Lindsey Graham’ ahead of the funeral at Washington National Cathedral. The Ukrainian president wrote on X that he had a good meeting with President Trump at the Oval Office, thanking him for everything they do together to protect the lives of Ukrainians and advance peace.
Miriam Adelson, an Israeli-American billionaire and one of the Republican party’s largest donors, was seen outside Washington National Cathedral for Lindsey Graham’s funeral service. She has described herself as a ‘very close friend’ of the late senator.
President Trump highlighted remarks from a CNN commentator who said that Senator Darline Graham is now the ‘clear favorite’ to win the South Carolina GOP primary. On Truth Social on Tuesday morning, the president shared an article from Mediaite titled: ’Up Like a Rocket! CNN Data Guru Says Lindsey Graham’s Sister Is Now ‘Clear Favorite’ to Win Primary.’
