A case of sexual harassment has been registered by the Sampigehalli police after a video went viral showing a woman passenger and a BMTC bus driver confronting and assaulting a man accused of molestation on a moving bus. The incident occurred on July 24, 2026, aboard BMTC bus route No. 500D/40, which was traveling via Manyata Tech Park near Nagawara. According to police, the woman alleged that the man had inappropriately touched her during the journey, prompting her to alert the bus driver.
The driver intervened, and the bus was stopped to prevent the suspect from fleeing. The viral video, recorded by a fellow passenger, shows the woman confronting, slapping, and beating the suspect, while the bus driver is seen kicking the man and allegedly removing his shirt. The video timestamp indicates that the incident occurred at around 12.42 p.m.
Eyewitnesses reported that the woman immediately alerted the driver after the alleged harassment. The clip was widely shared on social media, with a message claiming the suspect had allegedly been targeting women passengers on BMTC buses on the Hebbal–Manyata route by touching them inappropriately. Police are now coordinating with BMTC officials to gather further details and identify the suspect.
An FIR has been registered at the Sampigehalli Police Station, and efforts are underway to trace the accused. The suspect got off the bus at the Manyata Tech Park bus stop.
