The Telangana Government has launched the ‘New Employees Health Scheme’ for state government employees, retired personnel, and their family members. The scheme was launched on Friday, July 17, 2026, by Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha and Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad.
A total of 1,816 medical and surgical packages are part of the scheme, offering cashless health services at 886 private hospitals and 114 government hospitals. The scheme benefits 17,88,336 individuals, including 4,38,594 government employees, 3,61,955 pensioners, and nearly 9.38 lakh of their family members.
The Health Minister also launched the NEHS website (https://nehs.telangana.gov.in/), where beneficiaries can download digital health cards. The process of claiming insurance, from pre-authorisation to claims settlement, is digitised. The procedure to download the health card involves visiting the website, logging in using employee ID & password or One Time Password (OTP), and accessing the ‘Quick Actions’ section.
The website provides information on packages and network hospitals, including district-wise network hospitals, their addresses, and Aarogya Mithra’s name and phone number. Government Orders (G.O.s) related to the scheme, lists of packages, locations of Wellness Centres, and phone numbers are also available.
The State government has directed officers to deduct 1.5% of basic pay from employees or basic pension from pensioners as a contribution towards the Employee Health Scheme (EHS) fund. The government will contribute an equal amount to the scheme, which will be managed by the Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT) headed by the Chief Secretary.
The EHCT has 17 members representing the government, 10 people representing employees, and three members representing pensioners. The scheme aims to provide comprehensive healthcare services to government employees, pensioners, and their family members.
