Four killed in Kannur car crash

A car accident in Kannur on Friday night has claimed the lives of four people and left one person injured. The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. at Chalode in Kannur when the car crashed into a tree. The deceased have been identified as Shan Siraj, 22, Mohammed Rizwan, 22, Param Chettri, 22, and Saduri Harshavardhan, 22.

According to the police, the group was traveling from Bengaluru to Kannur to attend a function. Param Chettri, a native of Uttar Pradesh, was driving the car. All the occupants of the car were colleagues working together in Bengaluru.

Aditya Krishna, a native of Thrissur, who was also in the car, has been admitted to a private hospital in Kannur for treatment. Fire and rescue services personnel, along with Mattannur police and local residents, worked together to cut open the mangled car and retrieve the occupants trapped inside. Preliminary findings suggest that speeding may have caused the accident.

The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
