Itanagar, Sep 27 – The state of Arunachal Pradesh has issued a health advisory urging early detection of dengue as cases of sudden short‑term fever rise in the capital region.
The advisory, released by the office of the Itanagar Capital Region district medical officer, Dr C Lowang Mallo, called on residents to take preventive steps and seek prompt medical care if symptoms appear.
Dengue, a vector‑borne disease, typically causes an acute febrile illness lasting two to seven days. Common signs include headache, body aches, joint pain, rashes, and retro‑orbital pain behind the eyes.
To curb mosquito breeding, locals are advised to eliminate stagnant water, clean water coolers and tanks regularly, and keep storage containers covered. The health department also recommends using mosquito repellents and nets, installing window screens, and wearing full‑sleeved clothing. Patients who develop dengue symptoms should avoid self‑medication and consult a doctor immediately, and the advisory cautions against taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or steroids without medical advice.
