William Nagar, a village in the Samanda C&RD Block of East Garo Hills, reported a new security initiative that has attracted attention from local authorities. The announcement came after the Deputy Commissioner of East Garo Hills, RP Marak, issued a directive in the village of Dorakgre, near Kampil, citing Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023.
Deputy Commissioner Marak’s directive, issued on behalf of the BNSS, was aimed at addressing concerns about community safety in the Samanda C&RD Block. The measure was described as a “bosturang” strategy, a term used locally to refer to a coordinated security approach involving local residents and law enforcement.
The District Magistrate of East Garo Hills also confirmed the implementation of the BNSS directive. In a statement, the Magistrate highlighted the role of police in executing the new security measures and emphasized the importance of cooperation between officials and the community.
Police officers in the area were briefed on the new protocol, and local residents were informed about how the measures would be carried out. The announcement was made in a public forum in Kampil, where community leaders and law‑enforcement officials discussed the expectations and responsibilities associated with the BNSS directive.
