The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) announced a pre‑poll alliance called “Goa First” on Sunday in Panaji, aiming to offer voters a non‑BJP, non‑Congress alternative for the 2027 Goa assembly elections.
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal told reporters that the ruling BJP would not secure a majority in the upcoming polls and that the “Goa First” alliance would form the next government. He emphasized that both parties would be equal partners and described the alliance as credible, honest and loyal to the people of Goa.
GFP president Vijai Sardesai said the tie‑up would provide an alternative to a government he described as full of defectors, noting that the BJP had not received a complete mandate in the previous elections and that Congress could not rule out further defections. He added that the alliance was open to other like‑minded political forces.
In the current 40‑seat assembly, AAP holds two MLAs and GFP one. Kejriwal warned that after seven of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MPs joined the BJP, the party would be extra cautious in future nominations. He said the party would scrutinise potential nominees more thoroughly to prevent similar betrayals.
