Dimapur, Sep 9 (NPN): The United Colony Council (UCC) of Ward 20 in Dimapur announced a new resolution that will affect shopkeepers and business owners in the colony. The council stated that these stakeholders shall not associate with any business union, association, committee or other business‑related organisation within the colony. The decision was communicated through a press release issued by the council.
The resolution was adopted at an emergency meeting that the UCC convened with shop owners and landlords on Aug 31, 2026. The council explained that the move follows an earlier standing resolution and a resolution adopted at the colony’s general body meeting. It noted that while many organisations are formed to serve the community and address common interests, the rapid growth of unions and associations in Nagaland has drawn criticism from the public and the business community.
According to the council, the latest resolution is intended to serve the larger interests of the public and the business community. The council emphasized that the resolution will remain in force until it is permitted or amended by the competent authorities and through a resolution of the UCC general body.
The council has appealed to all residents, shopkeepers, business owners, landlords and members of the public concerned to take note of the resolution and extend their cooperation.
