The Tamil Nadu government announced on Friday that IAS officer P. Shankar, who had been serving as Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, has been transferred and posted as Commissioner of Archaeology.
Shankar’s appointment comes after the previous holder of the archaeology post, V.P. Jayaseelan, was holding additional charge of the position.
In a related move, the state government directed N. Subbaiyan, Secretary of the Social Justice Department, to take on full additional charge of the Agriculture Production Commissioner and Secretary of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department roles.
