Sunil Sharma, the Leader of Opposition in Jammu and Kashmir, welcomed the upcoming BRICS Summit in India, stating that the participation of member countries would strengthen the nation’s development. He urged all Indians to view the summit as a chance for comprehensive progress and highlighted that BRICS brings together nations connected to India’s power.
Sharma also addressed the controversy surrounding the Vande Mataram bill, affirming that the Parliament’s passage of the bill makes it binding for everyone. He expressed low expectations of the Congress party, accusing it of insulting the country and its institutions.
Regarding threats to Kashmiri Pandits, Sharma said such intimidation has no place under the Narendra Modi government and praised the community’s resilience. He highlighted the BJP’s commitment to address the plight of daily wagers, noting that wages were previously paid nominally and that the Minimum Wages Act now credits about Rs 9,300 to their accounts. He pledged to bring daily wages in line with those in other Union Territories.
Ahead of the Assembly session scheduled for September 21, Sharma announced outreach plans to meet district headquarters and listen to the concerns of marginalized groups. He described a meeting with 24 delegations in Jammu district where BJP leaders assured that genuine issues would be raised forcefully in the Assembly. Sharma criticized the National Conference government for failing to meet voters’ expectations and for focusing on excuses rather than addressing pressing public concerns, reaffirming the BJP’s role as a voice for people’s rights and development.
