A 50-year-old Apple Valley resident, Terry Lamar Easter, has been charged with two counts of murder after a high‑speed street race in Victorville ended in a fatal collision on August 14. Officials say Easter’s Chevrolet Camaro struck the Acura TL driven by 17‑year‑old Maddalyn Dailey and 16‑year‑old Isabell Hill while traveling at an estimated 117 miles per hour.
Dailey’s father, Dustin Dailey, told KTLA the girls were “ride or die” and described them as inseparable best friends. San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson said the crash was not an accident, emphasizing that racing at such speeds endangered the public and Easter’s own eight‑year‑old child, who was injured in the crash. In addition to the murder charges, Easter faces counts of willful cruelty to a child and engaging in a motor vehicle speed contest.
After a nearly two‑week search, Easter turned himself in on a Wednesday morning. The California Highway Patrol posted a “wanted” poster on Facebook, stating a $1,000,000 warrant for his arrest and describing him as armed and dangerous.
Police also arrested 49‑year‑old George Gary Sanchez of Riverside, who was driving a Dodge Charger and allegedly racing with Easter when the collision occurred. Fundraising pages on GoFundMe have raised more than $37,000 for Maddalyn’s family and nearly $30,000 for Isabell’s family, reflecting community support for the grieving families.
