A woman from Delhi’s Sangam Vihar has been arrested by the Faridabad Police for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 20 lakh from a Faridabad resident by threatening to frame him in a rape case. The accused was arrested from her house on Sunday and produced before a city court, which sent her to judicial custody. According to the police, the accused had obtained personal and family details from the victim in 2023, after he became acquainted with her.
She then began extracting money from him under various pretexts, coercing him into paying around Rs 1.5 lakh. In January 2025, the accused demanded another Rs 50,000, and when the victim refused to pay, she started threatening and blackmailing him. The complainant, the victim’s wife, reported that the accused visited her husband’s office and threatened to have him sent to jail if her demands were not met.
The accused then demanded Rs 20 lakh from the victim, threatening to file a rape case against him if the money was not paid. The police registered an FIR based on the complaint and arrested the woman. The Faridabad Police spokesperson confirmed that the accused was sent into judicial custody by a city court.
