A 43-year-old man in Ghaziabad allegedly attacked his family with a knife, killing his wife and elder daughter, while the younger daughter managed to escape. The incident took place late Saturday at Lokpriya Vihar under Khoda police station area. Mohammad Raja Ansari repeatedly stabbed his wife Baby Tabassum, 41, and daughter Sana, 15, inflicting severe injuries.

The accused also attacked his younger daughter Ruby alias Zoya, 14. However, the girl managed to escape the house and raised an alarm. Alerted by the screams, neighbours rushed to the scene, caught the accused, and handed him over to police. A case has been registered in this connection, and the accused has been arrested.

During interrogation, Ansari told police that there were frequent quarrels between the couple over trivial matters. Enraged by this, he had allegedly made up his mind to murder his wife and daughters and go to jail. According to police, Ansari lived on the fourth floor of a building with his wife and two daughters. Around 12.30 am on August 22, while his wife was asleep, the accused allegedly produced a knife he had hidden under the mattress and stabbed her in the neck.

Hearing the commotion, both daughters rushed into the room while the accused kept stabbing his wife. Terrified, the elder daughter Sana ran and hid in a corner of the balcony, but the accused caught her and stabbed her in the neck. The wife and elder daughter died at the spot due to severe blood loss, while the younger daughter sustained injuries and was shifted to a hospital. Her condition is said to be stable.

Ansari, originally from Bihar’s Araria district, claimed he had frequent quarrels with his wife over petty issues. Vexed by this, he had allegedly resolved to murder his wife and daughters and go to jail. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway, police said.
