A 60-year-old lawyer, Ratan Singh Yadav, was shot dead by three armed men in broad daylight on Monday afternoon in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district, apparently over a land dispute. The incident occurred near an eatery on Dabra Road in Bhitarwar town, where Yadav was attacked. Yadav sustained three bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Gwalior city, where he was declared dead by doctors.
The three assailants fled the scene after the attack, and police teams have been formed to apprehend them. According to Bhitarwar Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Gagan Hanwat, preliminary investigation suggests that the shooting may have been linked to a land dispute. Hanwat stated that Yadav had a land dispute with some persons and that the police suspect the firing was connected to that dispute.
The police are investigating the matter and making efforts to trace the accused. Family members of the deceased have also confirmed that Yadav had been embroiled in a long-running dispute over a piece of land with some of his relatives.
