CJP Resumes Sansad Chalo March Amid Heightened Security

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) resumed their ‘Sansad Chalo March’ on Monday, beginning from Jantar Mantar in Delhi, amidst heightened security measures by the Delhi Police. This development comes as activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been fasting for over 21 days, expressed his willingness to break his fast under certain conditions after being shifted from the protest site to Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday.

CJP spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das met with Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda on Monday, following the government’s outreach for talks. Das stated that the group’s demands, including the resignation or removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, were conveyed to Nadda. Although the Minister assured them that he would discuss the matter at the appropriate level, no commitments have been made so far. Das emphasized that the peaceful protesters will not rest until their demand is met.

In a related development, the Delhi High Court allowed Sonam Wangchuk to be shifted to Medanta Hospital, his hospital of choice, on Tuesday. This decision came after Wangchuk’s wife, Gitanjali Angmo, filed an appeal challenging a Single Judge’s refusal to allow his transfer to a private hospital. The Centre had no objection to shifting Wangchuk to Medanta, provided he remains under medical supervision and is not discharged except on the advice of Medanta’s doctors.

Wangchuk was whisked away by police from the protest site on Saturday and admitted to Safdarjung Hospital. His wife had moved the Delhi High Court seeking his transfer out of Safdarjung Hospital, which was initially rejected by a Single Judge Bench.
