BJP State unit president Nainar Nagenthran urged the TVK-led government to cooperate with the Centre on setting up a new airport in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the development of the State should not be stalled due to political reasons.
Mr. Nagenthran referred to the recent NITI Aayog report and encouraged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s government to look beyond political differences. He stated that the government should prioritize the development of Tamil Nadu over political considerations.
Mr. Nagenthran also addressed Minister R. Nirmalkumar’s recent comments on the Parandur airport site. He pointed out that Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol had stated that the Tamil Nadu government had not requested a change in the proposed site for the greenfield airport. Mr. Nagenthran questioned the basis of Minister Nirmalkumar’s comments against the Parandur site and asked why the TVK government had not chosen an alternative site.
Mr. Nagenthran raised several questions, including whether the TVK government had a problem with establishing an airport at Parandur or with establishing a new airport in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that these were concerns that were on the minds of the people.
Mr. Nagenthran reiterated the need for the TVK government to extend cooperation to the Centre for setting up a new airport in Tamil Nadu. He believed that this would help boost the civil aviation sector in the State.
