In a stunning revelation, Pune rural police have cracked a murder case that was 23 years in the making. A 24-year-old man, Manthan Vaidya, has been arrested for orchestrating the murder of Sanjay Baburao Kadu-Deshmukh, the man allegedly responsible for killing his father when he was just six months old. The victim, Kadu-Deshmukh, was found brutally murdered near the old Katraj tunnel in Pune district’s Bhor tehsil on July 11.

He suffered multiple injuries from a sharp weapon, prompting Rajgad Police to register a murder case. The Pune Rural Police’s Local Crime Branch (LCB) used technical evidence to identify Manthan Vaidya and Saurabh Pardeshi as key suspects. Vaidya and Pardeshi were detained on July 14 and confessed to the crime during questioning.

They revealed that they had killed Kadu-Deshmukh with the help of two accomplices, Mizan Shaikh and Sandip Kori. The motive behind the murder dates back to 2003 when Kadu-Deshmukh allegedly murdered Vaidya’s father, Dinesh Vaidya, following a petty dispute. According to assistant police inspector Chetan Machale, Vaidya had been nursing a grudge over his father’s murder for years and conspired with the other accused to eliminate Kadu-Deshmukh.

Kadu-Deshmukh was out on bail in another criminal case when he was killed. The police have registered an offence against Vaidya and the other accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.

The case is a shocking tale of revenge that spans over two decades. The police are now investigating the circumstances that led to the murder and the role of each accused in the crime.
