PM Modi Inaugurates 75 Redeveloped Railway Stations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across 20 states on Friday, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of India’s rail network. The stations have been revamped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at a cost of approximately Rs 1,570 crore.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, launched in 2022, aims to develop and upgrade stations across the Indian Railways network. The scheme’s long-term vision includes creating master plans, promoting multimodal connectivity, and improving station accessibility for passengers. According to the national transporter, the modernized stations are expected to strengthen regional connectivity, promote tourism and trade, and support the long-term economic growth of the areas they serve.

Among the redeveloped stations is the 110-year-old Jalandhar Cantt Railway Station in Punjab, which has been modernized at a cost of Rs 125 crore. The revamped station features a double-height air concourse, heavy steel platform roofing, and energy-efficient LED lighting. It also includes improved connectivity through entry points from both sides of the city, two new Foot Over Bridges (FOBs), and a 40-metre-wide trough roof covering 200 metres of platform length.

Another station that has undergone redevelopment is the Modi Nagar railway station in Delhi, which has been renovated at a cost of Rs 25.75 crore. The station now boasts a 12-metre-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB), a new parking area, and an improved circulating area. Additionally, a new waiting room and toilet block have been constructed, and the platform shelter and surface have been improved to enhance passenger convenience.

The redeveloped stations also feature Divyangjan-friendly facilities, including entry ramps, tactile pathways, toilets, water booths, parking facilities, and other amenities. The modernization of these stations is expected to significantly improve the travel experience for millions of passengers across the country.

A full list of the 75 redeveloped railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has been released, highlighting the extensive efforts made to upgrade India’s rail infrastructure.
