The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted searches at 13 locations across five states on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in connection with an alleged terror-funding and illegal infiltration network. The case is linked to a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh. The searches were carried out in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, and Maharashtra.
The ED is examining the seized digital devices and documents, and recording statements of key persons. The ATS FIR pertains to an organized syndicate allegedly involved in facilitating the illegal infiltration of Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals into India. The syndicate allegedly arranged forged Indian identity documents such as Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and passports, and aided their rehabilitation in various parts of the country.
During the search at Harora Al-Jamiatul Islamia Darul Uloom, Kalilkapur in West Bengal, the ED seized Rs.40 lakh in cash and gold coins weighing 180 gm. Investigation revealed a deep-rooted financial network comprising certain charitable trusts registered under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. These trusts allegedly received substantial contributions from some United Kingdom-based entities.
The funds were diverted through multiple bank accounts, mule accounts, and layered transactions to facilitate illegal activities. The agencies have zeroed in on a group operating in the border district of West Bengal, which allegedly helped Rohingyas and Bangladeshis infiltrate into India. Another group prepared all the documents for the illegal infiltrators, and then they were sent to other parts of India.
