BJP State president B.Y. Vijayendra and party MP Basavaraj Bommai led a massive protest march in Haveri on Thursday, condemning the deteriorating law and order situation across the state, particularly in the district. The protest was held to accuse the state government of pursuing appeasement politics.
The protest march, which began at Purasiddheshwar Temple and ended at Mahatma Gandhi Circle in Haveri, was attended by hundreds of BJP workers and leaders. Vijayendra and Bommai addressed the gathering, stating that the state government’s appeasement politics has led to a surge in crimes against Hindus, including brutal attacks and murders. Vijayendra spoke to the press, saying that the minority appeasement policy followed by the current government has turned the state into a haven for communal forces, which are assured of protection from the Congress.
He cited the recent group clash in Naregal and the death of Shivaji Rao in Rattihalli, stating that instead of taking action against the guilty, the police are filing cases against the victims. Bommai criticized the state government, saying that law and order has completely collapsed in the district, and criminals no longer fear the law. He referred to various instances of crime in Shiggaon, Hangal, Naregal, Ranebennur, and other places in the district, stating that the behavior of criminals after committing a crime indicates a lack of fear of the law.
Bommai attributed the deteriorating law and order situation to corruption among the local police, who he claimed misuse their authority due to political pressure. He warned that if the situation continues, his party will be forced to intensify the agitation in the coming days.
