The bodies of a 23-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were found in the Agra canal in Faridabad on Sunday evening, with their hands tied with data cables and faces injured. The deceased, identified as Akash alias Akku and Rashmi alias Rajni, were reported missing on Saturday evening after allegedly jumping into the canal. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
According to the police, the investigation into the case has been ongoing since Saturday, when a complaint was filed by Shivam Kumar, a resident of Sector 31. Kumar alleged that Akash had been harassing his wife Rashmi, despite apologizing earlier for his behavior. The harassment had resumed over the last 10 days, prompting Kumar to file a complaint. Rashmi had left her home in her car to meet Akash around 2 pm on Saturday, and around 4:30 pm, police received information that a young man and a woman had jumped into the Agra Canal near the BPTP bridge.
Upon reaching the scene, police found Rashmi’s car abandoned, with two mobile phones and a blood-stained hammer inside. The phones and hammer have been seized as evidence. The State Disaster Response Force and other investigation agencies had been searching for the two individuals since Saturday evening. The scope of the investigation has now widened following the recovery of both bodies.
Akash’s brother-in-law, Ajay Nagar, has alleged that it was a murder, claiming that Akash was summoned as part of a conspiracy and then killed along with the woman. The police are working to determine whether the woman died from a hammer blow or by drowning in the canal. A thorough investigation is underway, with police piecing together the sequence of events based on the post-mortem report, forensic evidence, mobile phones, and other electronic evidence.
The exact cause of death and the sequence of events will be confirmed based on the post-mortem report and forensic analysis. The police are currently analyzing the evidence and are expected to release more information soon.
