A 35-year-old man, accused in a POCSO case, was found dead in a village in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, just days after he allegedly went on a ‘murder spree’ that claimed the lives of six people. The man’s body was discovered near his uncle’s residence, with a bottle of poison or insecticide found next to him.
According to the police, the man had been booked in a POCSO case in May and had gone into hiding. He had applied for anticipatory bail, which was granted, and he was released on personal bond in June. However, on Friday night, he allegedly killed the 16-year-old girl he was accused of stalking, her mother, and grandmother, as well as his own wife and two sons.
The police said that the man drove to the girl’s home on Friday night, where he allegedly attacked and killed her mother and grandmother. He then forced the teenager into his car and drove to a lake in his village, where he allegedly stabbed her to death. The only person he left unharmed was the girl’s sister.
The man then headed to his own home, where he allegedly slit the throats of his 31-year-old wife and their two sons, aged four and 18 months. After the killings, he called his father and allegedly confessed to the crime before fleeing the village in his car.
A manhunt had been underway to locate the man, and the police had sent the bodies of the victims for postmortem examination. The motive behind the crime is still unknown, according to the police.
The police have sent the bottle found near the man’s body for sampling and will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
