Law Student Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Mother in Jaipur

A 23-year-old law student, Ayushi Sharma, has been arrested for allegedly plotting and executing the murder of her mother, Neeraj Sharma, in Jaipur. According to the police, Ayushi, a final-year LLB student, had been involved in a property dispute and disagreement over a government job with her mother, which led to the murder. The police claim that Ayushi wanted to take the government job offered to the family on compassionate grounds after her father’s death, but her mother took it instead, leading to further disagreements over family property.

The police investigation revealed that Ayushi had moved out of her home and into a house in Kalyan Nagar on Tonk Road, where she shared the space with her cousin Balram. It was here that the murder plot was allegedly devised, with Balram agreeing to help in exchange for a share in the family’s property in Bharatpur. The duo allegedly hired a hitman for Rs 7 lakh and carefully planned the murder, tracking Neeraj’s routine and finding that she returned home after dropping Ayushi’s brother at tuition classes.

The police became suspicious of the incident after examining CCTV footage, which showed the car traveling at a slow speed of nearly 12 kmph and deliberately hitting Neeraj. Further investigation revealed that some people were constantly talking on the phone, allegedly tracking Neeraj’s movements. Six other people have been arrested in connection with the case, and the police are now looking for Balram.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Harishankar Sharma stated that the examination of CCTV footage first raised doubts over the claim that it was an accident. The police are now trying to identify all the suspects involved in the case.
