A land dispute in Bihar’s Vaishali district turned deadly on Sunday, resulting in the alleged shooting deaths of an Army personnel and his father. According to officials, the incident occurred in the Bidupur police station area of the district. Police suspect that a few relatives of the deceased might have been behind the killing.
Sadar SDPO Subodh Kumar stated that the victims, Narik Rai and his son Jitendra Kumar, were shot over a suspected land dispute regarding a pathway. Rai died instantly, while Kumar succumbed to his injuries at Sadar hospital. Preliminary investigation revealed that some family members had allegedly blocked the pathway to the victims’ residence, leading to repeated disputes over the past few days.
Tensions escalated on Saturday night, prompting police intervention to restore order. However, the dispute resurfaced on Sunday morning and culminated in the fatal shooting, which occurred approximately 200 meters from the victims’ house. Police have recovered four cartridges from the scene and identified the accused.
Further investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to apprehend the accused as soon as possible, according to Kumar.
