Four of Family Found Dead at House in Bengaluru's Kottigepalya

A tragic incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Kottigepalya on Saturday morning, where three members of a family were found dead at their residence, and a fourth family member, Prashanth, was also found dead in what police believe to be a suspected case of suicide. The deceased family members have been identified as Mangalamma (55), Nanjamma (65), and Satish (50). According to the police, Prashanth, a 34-year-old driver by profession, lived with his parents, grandmother, and maternal uncle.

His mother Mangalamma was employed in a garment factory, Nanjamma worked as a civic worker, and Satish was a plumber. The preliminary investigation suggests that Prashanth is suspected to have fatally attacked the three family members before his death. The Kamakshipalya Police visited the scene and initiated an investigation, with forensic experts examining the premises as part of the inquiry.

Bengaluru West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Yatheesh N. stated that the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined, including reports that Prashanth had mental health issues. The incident came to light after neighbours alerted the police after hearing unusual noises from inside the house. When police personnel arrived, they found the bodies of two women lying in pools of blood with multiple injuries, a third body in another room, and Prashanth hanging.

Prashanth’s father, Chikkanna, reported that there had been no argument in the family the previous night and that he had left home for work on the morning of July 11. Police are questioning relatives and neighbours and examining forensic evidence to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The police are also looking into reports of Prashanth’s occasional anger issues and frequent quarrels with his mother over trivial matters.
