The Khonsa Planning Authority held a meeting on Wednesday to review the draft GIS-based master plan-2051 for Khonsa under the AMRUT Scheme 2.0. The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Techu Aran, was attended by various stakeholders, including the ADC, Superintendent of Police, and senior officers from different departments. A detailed presentation on the draft Khonsa master plan-2051 was made by the consultant, M/s Remote Sensing Instruments (RSI), Hyderabad. The draft plan aims to provide a long-term blueprint for the planned development of Khonsa over the next 25 years. Town Planner Dacha Bagang highlighted the significance of the GIS-based master plan, urging all stakeholder departments to contribute constructive suggestions and submit developmental proposals.
The meeting deliberated on the roadmap for planned urban growth, infrastructure development, and fixation of LPA boundaries. The ADC, Namneet Singh, observed that Khonsa town has limited government land for expansion, emphasizing the need for a detailed assessment of existing land use and removal of encroachments. The PWD executive engineer recommended upgrading Khonsa’s road network, drainage, and sewerage infrastructure, while the PHED executive engineer suggested reviewing the town’s water supply system. The deputy commissioner directed that all observations and recommendations be incorporated into the draft plan to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the town’s future growth.
The meeting deferred approval of the draft plan and resolved that all departments would submit authenticated data and feedback to the consultant within the prescribed timelines. The consultant will revise and compile the draft master plan based on the inputs received and submit the updated document within 60 days.
