Two individuals have been apprehended in the Itanagar Capital Region with heroin valued at over Rs 2 lakh, according to the police on Tuesday. Following a tip regarding the transportation of heroin from Banderdewa, a team from the Nirjuli police station intercepted an Assam-registered scooter near Lekhi village after a brief pursuit on Monday. The operation resulted in the seizure of 22.6 grams of suspected heroin, packed in 17 plastic vials, from one of the accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Munmun Morang, 32, from Lakhimpur district, and Bikram Doley, 30, from Majuli district in Assam. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act and are conducting an investigation to determine the source, destination, and network involved in the alleged trafficking.
