Local MLA Phurpa Tsering urged government departments to actively involve panchayat leaders and members in implementing developmental activities during a subdivisional level monitoring committee meeting in West Kameng district on Monday. Transparency and fairness in beneficiary selection under government schemes were also emphasized by Tsering, who stressed the importance of consulting panchayat representatives to ensure accountability and public confidence. The meeting, chaired by Tsering, saw HoDs deliver presentations on the progress of ongoing projects, achievements, challenges, and future plans of their respective departments. Various issues and grievances relating to developmental works and public service delivery were also discussed. Transportation difficulties faced by departmental staffers, installation of smart meters, pipeline connections, staff shortage in certain sectors, and other infrastructure-related concerns were among the issues raised.
West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Dr Dilip Kumar stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of developmental projects. He directed all departments to ensure that beneficiaries selected under various government schemes are genuine and deserving. The MLA took note of the transportation challenges faced by administrative officers and contingency staff and assured that efforts would be made to facilitate the provision of a bus for the benefit of staff members.
