A joint operation by the Assam Rifles and the police in Tirap district resulted in the arrest of an NSCN-K (Ang Mai) operative. The operation, which was launched in the Hydel area of Khonsa town on 18 June, was based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of an underground operative in the area. Security forces carried out a well-coordinated ambush, leading to the successful arrest of 32-year-old Langsom Losu, alias Gangsa, a resident of the area.
A 7.65 mm pistol, a magazine, 10 live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, and a bag were recovered from his possession. The arrested individual and the seized items have been handed over to the police for further interrogation and legal action. This breakthrough is a testament to the robust inter-agency coordination and high operational capability of the Assam Rifles and the local police in maintaining peace and curbing insurgent activities in the region.
