Sao Chang College Launches First Lumina Fest 2026

Sao Chang College in Tuensang celebrated its first college festival, Lumina Fest 2026, on October 8 and 9. The two‑day event, held on campus, featured literary, artistic and cultural competitions designed to give students a platform to showcase talent and creativity.

The festival also included student‑run stalls and an art and handicraft exhibition that drew students, teachers and guests. In the opening ceremony on October 8, vice‑principal Dr. Lal Veda Chandra Kumar delivered a welcome address, while Assistant Professor Langnyei Imlichuba Phom presented the festival’s concept note. The Student Support Committee honored Sungmo, the third‑place B.Sc. Multidisciplinary topper, with a special presentation for his academic achievement.

Day one competitions comprised a poetry slam, extempore speech, short film, solo song and group song contests. The following day featured solo dance, drama, cosplay, group dance and an upcycled fashion show. The student‑run stalls and exhibition offered opportunities for participants to display entrepreneurial initiative, creativity and artistic skill.

A special ceremony on the second day introduced the Excellence Award Dr. Chandrika Singh, established by Dr. Santosh Singh and Dr. Nirmala Singh, daughter of Dr. Chandrika Singh, to recognize academic excellence in the Department of English. Dr. Lanurenla, the college principal, formally presented the award to the two founders in acknowledgment of their contribution.

After the competitions, results were announced and a vote of thanks was given by K. Chongliu, a member of the organising committee. The festival concluded with a jam session. Lumina Fest 2026 marked a milestone in the college’s history, offering students a chance to explore creative potential, build confidence and engage in activities beyond the classroom, thereby underscoring the value of holistic education and student participation.
