An insurance executive is suspected of fatally shooting his wife and daughter before taking his own life inside their New Jersey mansion. Montgomery Township Police responded to a welfare check at the family home on Thursday, but were initially unable to contact the occupants. A day later, officers entered the house, listed on Zillow for more than $1.7 million, and discovered two women in separate bedrooms with gunshot wounds to the head, as well as a man with a self‑inflicted gunshot wound.
The man was identified as David Grodnick, 61, senior vice president and underwriting counsel at Land Services USA. The victims were his 62‑year‑old wife, Lora Grodnick, and their 24‑year‑old daughter, Sloane Grodnick. Sloane had recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design and was set to finish a Master of Fine Arts at the Rhode Island School of Design next year.
Neighbors reported that the Grodnicks were members of the Bedens Brook Country Club in Skillman. The Montgomery News first covered the suspected murder‑suicide, and the Independent has requested comments from Land Services USA.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the deaths were an isolated incident and that there is no public threat. Those with information are asked to contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at (908) 231‑7100 or the Montgomery Police Department at (908) 359‑3222.
