A Paris court awarded Kim Kardashian symbolic compensation of one euro on Tuesday after her 2016 armed robbery. The amount matched the figure she had requested, according to a lawyer involved in the ongoing proceedings.
The U.S. celebrity has sought to move on since eight individuals were convicted last year for their roles in the incident she described as “the most terrifying experience of my life.” A former receptionist at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, where the robbery took place, was awarded 109,516 euros after claiming 550,000 euros in damages. The hotel itself received 50,000 euros, and stylist Simone Bretter, who was present during the raid, received the symbolic one euro.
The robbery occurred during Paris Fashion Week on 2 October 2016. Two thieves dressed as police forced their way into Kardashian’s suite, bound her with zip ties and tape, and fled with more than six million dollars’ worth of jewellery, including a diamond ring she wore to a Givenchy show. The perpetrators, dubbed “les papys braqueurs” because most were in their 60s and 70s, faced charges of armed robbery, kidnapping and gang association. They had already served pre‑trial detention and none of the convicted returned to prison or appealed the verdict.
In a statement released after the ruling, Kardashian thanked French authorities for pursuing justice. She said the crime left a lasting impact on her and her family, pledged to advocate for justice and a fair legal system, and expressed hope for healing and accountability.
