Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan will serve as the chief guest at the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations held by the central government on September 17 at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad. The program will feature a parade of paramilitary forces and a series of cultural performances.
The event will also host Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy (Coal & Mines), Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (Tourism & Culture), and Bandi Sanjay Kumar (Minister of State for Home Affairs), along with senior BJP leaders.
Prior to the ceremony, Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy inspected the arrangements with State BJP president N. Ramchander Rao and other party leaders. Reddy said the celebrations were meant to honour the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the struggle against the Nizam’s rule and criticized earlier governments for not giving the occasion due importance. He urged the public to attend in large numbers.
During the book launch of “September 17 – Telangana Vimochana Dinamu” by Osmania University professor G. Laxman, N. Ramchander Rao highlighted the need to educate younger generations about the integration of Hyderabad State into the Indian Union. He accused Congress governments of corruption and claimed that the BJP would continue to oppose such practices while urging people to draw inspiration from freedom fighters such as Chakali Ailamma.
