A farmer‑scientist interaction programme was held on Tuesday, September 15, at APCOS in Thariode, Wayanad, organised by the ICAR‑National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology (ICAR‑NIANP) in Bengaluru together with the Livestock Management Training Centre (LMTC) in Sulthan Bathery.
The event was opened by Sabin George, Registrar of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU). During the inauguration, Artabandhu Sahoo, Director of NIANP, Bengaluru, stressed the importance of scientific livestock management, balanced nutrition and improved reproductive practices for boosting livestock productivity. He encouraged farmers to adopt NIANP technologies to maximise output.
Seventy‑three dairy and livestock farmers attended, gaining direct access to scientists and experts who discussed scientific dairy farming, optimal nutrition management, reproductive health and sustainable livestock production.
As part of the support initiative, ICAR‑NIANP supplied cattle feed, rubber mats, feed charts and mineral mixtures to the participants. Other speakers included V. Jayesh, assistant director of LMTC Sulthan Bathery; M.T. John, president of APCOS Thariode; and R. Aji, district animal husbandry officer.
