Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and a delegation of Malaysian business representatives at Tulah Clinical Wellness near Calicut University on the afternoon of Monday, September 14, 2026. The meeting, attended by Keralam’s Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty and other state officials, aimed to broaden cooperation between the two countries in healthcare, tourism, trade, investment and education, and to pinpoint opportunities for Malaysian investment in the state.
During the discussions, Satheesan and Kunhalikutty highlighted Keralam’s existing infrastructure, skilled workforce and medical expertise as foundations for developing projects in medical and wellness tourism. They also stressed the potential for integrating Ayurveda with modern medicine, noting that the state’s climate, natural resources and workforce position it favorably to compete with international wellness destinations.
Tulah Clinical Wellness founder Faizal Kottikollon briefed the delegation on plans to establish a longevity and wellness destination in Keralam that blends modern medicine, Ayurveda and sustainable tourism. He emphasized that the sector could generate employment through medical, wellness and nature tourism, and that Keralam possessed the healthcare workforce and traditional knowledge necessary for a thriving longevity industry.
The talks were part of Mr. Ibrahim’s first visit to Keralam as Prime Minister, following engagements in New Delhi, the BRICS summit and a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also met with All India Jamiyyathul Ulama leaders, discussed educational exchanges with Jamia Markaz, and exchanged views on artificial intelligence, stressing the need to balance technological progress with faith, values, ethics and human dignity.
