Burglars broke into a Tasmac outlet in Irumbedu on Saturday, taking liquor bottles worth about ₹2 lakh. The shop’s supervisor, K. Purushothaman, 45, and salesman S. Palani, 38, noticed the entrance lock was damaged as they prepared to open the outlet around noon.
Several racks of liquor bottles were stolen, and the hard disks of the CCTV cameras installed inside the outlet were missing. The cameras themselves were damaged during the break‑in.
The shop staff alerted the Arani Taluk police, who retrieved CCTV footage from the route where the outlet was located. A case has been registered and a probe is underway.
