Authorities in Louisiana have launched a manhunt for a person of interest after a stabbing spree in Houma left four people dead and a child in critical condition. The incident occurred on Saturday in Terrebonne Parish, about 60 miles southwest of New Orleans.
Deputies responded to the 200 block of Ashland Drive where they found a child with multiple stab wounds. The child was air‑lifted by Acadian Ambulance Service Air Med to an out‑of‑area hospital in critical condition. Investigators later discovered several deceased victims inside nearby homes, bringing the death toll to four.
Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet said the person of interest is Kaegan Jude Solet, 47, but clarified that identifying a suspect does not equate to an arrest or charge. The sheriff’s office has not released the victims’ identities or any connection they may have had to Solet.
Solet has a prior criminal record. In December 2019 he was arrested for a separate stabbing in Houma, charged with attempted second‑degree murder after attacking a woman in a motel room. He was later found not guilty by a jury.
The sheriff’s office urges anyone with information on Solet’s whereabouts to call 985‑876‑2500. Investigators are using all available tools to locate him and hope to secure his custody quickly, noting there is no indication he plans to leave the state or go on the run.
