On Sunday, September 13, Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan returned to his alma mater, Panangad High School, to address an alumni gathering.
During the event, he reflected on how his days at Panangad helped shape his communication skills. He said that it was at the school where he “learned to speak,” and that the foundation in English he acquired at the Malayalam‑medium institution gave him the confidence to deliver speeches in the language later, including a lecture at Harvard University.
The Chief Minister recalled that the teachers at Panangad encouraged him to read and learn. He explained that when he joined SH College after completing his schooling, he felt an inferiority complex while listening to other students speak English fluently. However, after listening closely, he realized that many of them made grammatical errors, whereas the teachers at his high school had taught him grammar thoroughly, giving him the confidence to speak in English.
The alumni meet was inaugurated by Kerala High Court judge Devan Ramachandran and was attended by ministers N. Samsudheen, Roji M. John, V.E Abdul Gafoor, Hibi Eden, MP, and Deputy Speaker Shanimol Osman, among others.
