A group of people who appeared to be social media influencers heckled Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke during his visit to Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh. They asked whether he had come to do politics over the deaths of several tribal children in the region caused by infectious diseases.
A viral video on social media shows Dipke apologising for arriving late. The clip also shows a woman influencer placing a microphone in his face as he drove away, accusing him of wanting to do politics on corpses and questioning the timing of his visit.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court recently sought a response from the state government regarding more than 30 child deaths in the area. The court issued notices to the health department, the women and child development department, the Balaghat collector and others while hearing a PIL that alleged children were not receiving adequate treatment and that a hospital with a capacity of 50 beds was treating around 400 children.
Dipke had visited the villages of Adori, Korka and Bondari on Saturday to meet families of tribal children who had died from infectious diseases and to gather information about local healthcare facilities. The influencer group, described by local journalists as outsiders, appeared to disrupt the visit; CJP workers moved Dipke to another car and escorted him away. The woman later said, “he ran away, he ran away.”
