On Friday, September 11, 2026, police at Penukonda railway station intercepted a suspect carrying six small packets of ganja. The operation was part of the ‘EAGLE on Train’ drive, which was launched across train routes in Penukonda, Dharmavaram and Hindupur.
Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar explained that special police teams conducted intensive searches across several train compartments. Additional SP K.V. Mahesh from Hindupur led the integrated search operation involving the Railway Protection Force, the Armed Reserve, civil police and a specialised sniffer dog unit.
The accused was handed over to the Government Railway Police in Penukonda for further prosecution. SP Kumar said strict vigilance will continue across key transit routes to dismantle drug smuggling operations, and coordinated drives will be intensified to ensure a drug‑free society.
