At the Bharat Mandapam in central Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a gala dinner for the BRICS Summit on Saturday, September 12. The state‑of‑the‑art complex was decorated for the occasion. The dinner was attended by leaders and delegates from the five BRICS nations.
The menu showcased a range of Indian dishes. Starters included khandvi mille, a steamed gram‑flour roll with mustard, coconut and curry leaves, and khumb galouti, pan‑grilled mushroom kebabs served on sheermal bread. The main course featured paneer lababdar, gucchi marmik with Himalayan morel mushrooms and asparagus, carrot bean poriyal, thakkali belle saaru, millet pulao, beetroot raita, and assorted breads. Desserts comprised Old Delhi fruit cream with jalebi and shahtoot phirni topped with sweet mulberries and gold leaf.
The first day of the summit saw the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other heads of state, along with numerous delegates.
The dinner was accompanied by a performance from an ensemble of more than 100 artists, drawn largely from India and other BRICS member countries.
