Male tiger, Explorer, attacks two buffaloes in Kakinada district

A male tiger, named Explorer, attacked two buffaloes in Avelthi village, Sankavaram mandal, Kakinada district on Thursday night.

The tiger crossed the Godavari River about a week earlier, entering Kakinada district from Rajavommangi in Polavaram district. Forest officials had spotted the animal on Thursday evening.

In a release issued on Friday, Kakinada District Forest Officer N. Ramachandra Rao confirmed that locals reported the attack. He said one buffalo died while the other survived. Rao added that tracking teams would rush to the site and increase monitoring to warn people about the tiger’s movements.

Explorer has followed the same route twice since February. It was first tranquilised at Kurmapuram in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district and later released.
