A 35‑year‑old paying‑guest operator was shot dead in his fourth‑floor apartment in Ganga Vihar, Gurugram, on the evening of September 8, police said.
The gunman fired a single bullet from point‑blank range, striking the operator’s head and leaving him critically injured. The victim, identified as Hemant Kaushik of Ganga Vihar, Acharyapuri‑II, lives with his wife, two daughters and a son.
Police say the shooting followed a dispute over money. The two accused, who visited Kaushik around 7.30 pm, argued in a room on the fourth floor and one of them shot him. One suspect, Fauji, is a resident of Bhiwani; the other is from Gurgaon village.
Both shooters are now on the run. A police spokesperson said the reasons behind the incident are not yet clear, statements are being taken, and the suspects will be arrested soon. Kaushik is receiving treatment at a private hospital while the investigation continues.
