India is showcasing 37 deep‑tech start‑ups at the Bharat Innovates Exposition, which ran from September 11 to 12 at Bharat Mandapam on the sidelines of the BRICS summit. The event, organised by the Ministry of Education in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, offers a platform for Indian innovators to present their technologies to a global audience.
Among the innovations on display are an advanced floating solar photovoltaic platform designed for complex water bodies, a full‑stack marine robotic system for inspecting critical infrastructure, a rare‑earth‑free electric powertrain, an AI‑enabled cervical cancer screening tool that delivers risk assessment in under 60 seconds, and an AI‑powered foetal monitoring platform.
Bharat Innovates is a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education aimed at acting as a global accelerator for the Indian higher‑education ecosystem. Originally a cohort of 120 start‑ups participated in the 2026 edition held in Nice, France; this year 37 of those ventures are on show, aligning with India’s BRICS Chairship theme of “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The exposition runs alongside the BRICS Business Forum, giving innovators the chance to network with CEOs, investors, and industry leaders from BRICS member countries and to pursue B2B engagements, technology partnerships and investment opportunities.
The high‑profile event is expected to attract visits from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, BRICS leaders, and senior delegates. It also advances the BRICS Education Track priority of “Enhancing Research, Innovation and Start‑up Ecosystems.” The inaugural Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, jointly inaugurated by Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron, showcased 120 innovators, 15 higher‑education institutions and over 500 global stakeholders across 13 key sectors such as advanced computing, semiconductors, space technology, biotechnology, energy, healthcare and manufacturing.
