A second attendee of the annual Burning Man festival was found dead at his camp on Saturday, according to event organizers. The deceased, Craigh Mann, 60, was discovered by fellow campmates in Black Rock City, Nevada, during the nine‑day event, but no further details, including the cause of death, have been released.
Two days earlier, a man in his mid‑fifties died after a medical emergency at the same festival. He received life‑saving treatment and was rushed to an on‑site medical centre, where he was pronounced dead. Organizers have not yet released his name or cause of death, stating that the name will be made public once his family is notified.
Pershing County Sheriff Coroner Jerry Allen told the San Francisco Chronicle that deputies received a report on Thursday of a man found unresponsive on a festival street. Officials said there was no indication of foul play and that the cause of death was pending a medical‑examiner report.
Burning Man attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the Black Rock Desert for a week of art, music and self‑expression. The festival operates its own on‑site healthcare, which treated 1,450 patients in 2025. Last year’s sole death was a homicide involving the stabbing of Vadim Kruglov, 37, a Russian national, inside a tent. This year’s event, the 40th edition, has also drawn criticism from co‑founder John Law, who described the festival as becoming a commercialized escape for wealthy elites rather than the original “archist soul.”
