Secretary Manoj Joshi of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, inaugurated Dentic World, a dental technology hub, at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday. The ceremony marked the launch of a dedicated platform aimed at fostering research, design, prototyping and advanced manufacturing for dental technologies.
Following the inauguration, Joshi chaired a round‑table meeting with AMTZ Managing Director and Founder‑CEO Jitendra Sharma and heads of the zone’s manufacturing units. Participants discussed strategies to strengthen domestic medical‑device manufacturing, expand testing and validation capabilities, improve access to critical raw materials and components, and reduce dependence on imports.
The visit also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between AMTZ and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre. The agreement focuses on collaboration in radiopharmaceuticals, radiochemistry and oncology research, leveraging AMTZ’s Techtron infrastructure alongside the hospital’s clinical and research expertise.
Dentic World is designed to integrate the entire product development cycle—from research through commercialisation—under one platform, supporting the creation of indigenous dental technologies. Joshi was accompanied by Joint Secretary Aman Sharma during the event.
