Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar met senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India on Tuesday at his camp office in Kolanukonda to review key National Highway projects and pending issues in the Guntur‑Vijayawada region. The review focused on the progress of ongoing works, existing bottlenecks and steps to accelerate infrastructure delivery.
He asked for the Detailed Project Report of the proposed flyover at Chinakakani on the West Bypass, seeking clarification on the next course of action and the expected completion timeline. The minister also examined proposals for an Outer Ring Road and the status of related reports that have been submitted to the Centre.
Discussion also covered a road under‑bridge and drain outlet at Suddapalli Donka, problems at the Venkata Palem toll plaza and measures to make the Pedakakani Y‑junction accident‑free. The minister expressed concern over the slow progress of two road overbridges under construction at Kolanukonda and Suddapalli Donka, directing officials to speed up the work.
The minister also reviewed approvals needed for laying pipelines under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme and instructed officials to submit a report on all pending issues within two weeks.
