Hyderabad, Aug 31 (PTI) – Telangana Rakshana Sena president K. Kavitha addressed a public meeting in Nizamabad on Monday, speaking emotionally about the Delhi excise policy case that led to her imprisonment in 2024. She asserted that she had done nothing wrong and that the prolonged legal scrutiny had caused her considerable distress.
Kavitha, who spent time in Tihar jail, said the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation pursued her for four years despite her insistence of innocence. She highlighted a court observation that a probe should be launched against the officer who investigated the case, noting that such a directive was unprecedented.
The leader, a former Lok Sabha member from Nizamabad and current MLC, recounted her removal from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, a party led by her father K. Chandrasekhar Rao. She emphasized that her electoral victories were achieved with the blessings of the people and that she does not aspire to power, focusing instead on public service.
Kavitha outlined her vision of “Bahujana Telangana,” calling for qualitative transformation in citizens’ lives. She criticized the allocation of Rs 1,00,000 crore to the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme during the BRS regime, stating that no acre in Nizamabad has benefited from the water supply. She also presented her “Panchajanyam” agenda, which promises free education, free healthcare, agricultural and farmer welfare measures, extensive job creation and broader social justice.
