Lucknow-based IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi, currently serving as Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (Judicial) in Jalaun, returned to public attention after a series of posts on X that accused senior Uttar Pradesh officials of corruption. The posts, made on Monday and Tuesday, targeted the Labour Commissioner, the Transport Commissioner and, without naming anyone, a district magistrate, alleging irregularities in the outsourcing of government vehicles.
In his Monday message, Rahi claimed that a Bolero vehicle supplied on 25 August by Mainpuri’s Honey Enterprises – an agency selected through the GeM portal – lacked a mandatory yellow number plate and appeared non‑compliant with transport rules. He said a similar vehicle was provided again on 27 August despite the earlier shortcomings. Rahi also alleged that drivers’ monthly wages of around Rs 6,000 had remained unpaid for several months and that tenders were being awarded at low rates through collusion with government offices. He demanded an inquiry into the outsourcing process and the alleged violations of transport and labour regulations.
The following day, Rahi posted that a senior “well‑wisher” had warned him of a concerted effort by his district magistrate to undermine him, even extending to Lucknow. He suggested his presence had tarnished the magistrate’s reputation and hinted at strained relations with District Magistrate Rajesh Pandey. The posts sparked a protest on 11 July, with supporters labeling Rahi an “honest officer” and demanding the reversal of his transfer.
Rahi, a 2023 batch IAS officer who entered civil service in 2004, has a history of controversies, including a viral video of him doing sit‑ups before lawyers in Shahjahanpur and a 2008 exposure of scholarship fraud in Muzaffarnagar. Speaking to ThePrint, he said he had stated his views on social media, stood by his statements and was not seeking further controversy.
